Install from source code
The 2.2.11 release requires gtk-2 (gtk 2.20 or newer) or gtk-3 (preferably 3.2.2 or newer) and optionally libenchant for spell checking, libgucharmap for the character map plugin, and python version 2 or 3 for the zencoding plugin and integrated tools like jsmin, and cssmin.
